R6 rebirth - Back to it
It had been a little while since I’d been down to California. I had sold some bigger parts from the C’s collection and decided to take a trip down to deliver them and avoid the stress of shipping .
Just part of the load prepped up.

I needed a driver and the homie Tommy G came through for me heavy, drove the whole way to LA and back. Five days solid together in the truck, hundreds of miles and countless hours on the road, but we had a blast.

Was really nice to take a little break from the PNW, get back down to my old stomping grounds, see the CA homies and soak up some sun.
Last stop, first In-N-Out in Washington state had just opened so we had to. We were hyped.

When we got home it was right back to the R6.
Before leaving on the trip I had started working on converting the factory rear seat to a seat cap. I had already removed the rear foot pegs and wanted the bike setup for a single rider and no passenger.
What I was starting with.

I could have purchased an aftermarket cap, but I didn’t really like the look of them and was up for a project.
Example of the aftermarket cap.

I already had an idea in my head on how I waned it to look, so I got to work on dismantling the rear seat.

Torn down rear seat.
Started off with the factory shell, I knew it would be the perfect fit since it was OEM Yamaha and would still be able to come on and off like the factory seat.

The foam will act as the core, but would need to be cut to get the look I was going for.

Next I picked up some supplies to get started on the fiberglass. It had been some time since I glassed anything, the last time I did was back in 2014 when I made the custom front splitter blade for my Integra.
Taped a cut line and did a quick mockup with the seat fabric to get a rough visual on what I was going for.

Got the foam cut to size. The front portion that was cut off will still be used as a cushion wrapped in the original seat fabric.
The back portion will be fiberglassed then paint matched to the bike in factory Yamaha Blue.

While down in California some items I ordered were delivered, nice little treat to come home to.

One of the items was a BMC air filter to replace the original factory filter.

A couple Arai lenses for the new helmet also arrived. One blue mirror and one light smoke, unfortunately the helmet is still on backorder, but more on that later.

I had ordered a set of Dunlop Q5A tires, just the front showed up, but the rear was expected to arrive in a couple weeks.

A small order from Yamaha also arrived. Couple new factory keys, battery tie down and tool kit.

Didn’t waste anytime getting the keys cut. I called up a mobil locksmith and he came same day and knocked them out.
Also got the BMC filter installed pretty quick. Old and crusty vs new hotness.
Still waiting for some parts to be delivered at this point, I’ll leave you with a little sneak peek of what’s to come. Super excited for this piece!

I’m sure some of you might be able to guess what it is from the last photo..
I hope you guys enjoyed the update! Thanks for following along.
